Generosity opens doors.

I was reminded of this principle today through a series of unexpected events, and now I’d like to share with you, and take you on this thought process with me as I go….

I know generosity is a key ingredient to living a successful life, and I know that by chasing the wrong things in life can be devastating.

We all have choices in life. From the moment we wake up in the morning, to the job we go to, to the partner we marry, to the time we choose to go to bed.Yet somehow when it comes to chasing our dream, and building our businesses we run the risk of loosing focus, and making it all about us. If we’re not careful, and we’re in a place of influence this can become toxic not just in our own lives, but for the people around us. Here are a few more points to consider:

1. It is not all about us. We must keep the right perspective. Your business, your product idea, your body when you become married doesn’t just belong to you. Don’t get me wrong, we can make it about us, but if you look at those who’ve made a significant mark in this world. They understood this idea. History makers especially!

2. Motives are important. No matter what we enter into, whether it be a relationship with a spouse, a campaign, or a business proposal. We make sure our motives are right before we enter. Not every opportunity is the right opportunity. Yet it is true that we will reap, what we sow. So lets challenge ourselves to sow generously.

One thing is for certain, we must never get complacent with the opportunity to be generous, or become scared that if we don’t hold onto that idea someone else may steal it. The culture is changing, and we are no longer a generation who can afford to hold on to those old concepts we once locked away in our closet. This is a world that requires collaboration, and generosity. At least that’s what we should be aiming for, and that is where I believe true success lies.

2. Motives are important. No matter what we enter into, whether it be a relationship with a spouse, a campaign, or a business proposal. We must have a motives check before we enter. Not every opportunity is the right opportunity. Yet, it is true of this principle. We will reap what we so. So lets sow generously.

I love the proverb that says, “A gift makes way for the giver,” and if you’ve ever heard Seth Godin speak you may have heard the following, “The internet rewards relentless generosity. The more you worry about when your going to get paid, the less your going to get paid.” This is true in most circumstances of life; in fact all of them.
